about the camp program

The program will run from 12-3:00 pm. Your children will receive 30-40 minutes of instruction (5:1 max ratio) in the pool with one of our trained instructors. They will spend at least 20-30 minutes of free time where they can practice their skills. Please see our program descriptions below.

The remainder of the time will be spent doing dry activities like crafts and ball playing outside of the pool. If they are coming from another camp at Marple Newtown High School (Lacrosse or softball), please let us know and we will pick them up and provide time for lunch.

beginner 1 swimmers

Ages 2.5+

Must be 3 to enroll in a group lesson

This class is perfect for anyone new to swimming. We introduce basic water confidence at a nurturing pace by instilling trust and being responsive to student's needs. The Beginner 1 level focuses on getting students comfortable in the water. They will learn to safely enter and exit the water, use the wall to get to safety, submerge their head, float on their back, move through the water, and kick across the pool.

beginner 2 swimmers

Ages 3+

This level is appropriate for swimmers who can submerge their head and do a back float independently for 5 seconds. At this level, we reinforce safety skills learned at the beginner level, then focus on getting students across the pool. They will focus on moving while on their back, and putting their eyes in and gliding through the water, and freestyle strokes with their face submerged.

intermediate swimmers

Ages 4+

Intermediate swimmers must be able to glide independently for 5 seconds (approximately 5 meters) and backfloat to begin this level. Safety skills from the Beginner 1 & 2 levels will be reinforced in addition to learning new skills. They will focus on freestyle strokes and breathing. They will also focus on backstroke, jumping into the pool independently, and treading water. This level is ideal for students looking to pass a deep-end test.

expert swimmers

Ages 5+

Expert swimmers are comfortable in the water and can swim independently through the water. In order to take an expert level class, swimmers must be able to swim the length of the pool with freestyle or backstroke. Safety skills from the previous levels will be reinforced as the students learn the skills to swim using proper techniques. Students will learn the proper techniques for backstroke, freestyle, breaststroke and butterfly. They will work on competitive skills such as flip-turns and diving.

the programs

“My oldest passed the swim test after 6 lessons! He could barely swim in the beginning. My youngest wouldn’t even go under the water or off the steps. He can now dive down for toys and do a few strokes! Thank you so much!”
